This association was founded in 1973. It was awarded with Zagreb City Medal in 2015 for its special contribution to culture, history and tourism as well as for impeccable success and the generous dedication in the work it performs.

There are 120 members of the society who are mostly highly educated citizens who provide guided tours around Zagreb and its surroundings in fifteen (15) European languages, Japanese, Chinese and in the International sign language.

The most important objectives of this society include safeguarding tourist guides activities, protecting the rights of tourist guides and the profession, protecting the legality of providing authentic guided tours, constant development and improvement of guiding through programmes of additional training and creating conditions for a more quality representation of the sights of Zagreb, Zagreb County and the cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia in its entirety.
